A few others worth mentioning..

Just picture this moment if you will.  For those of you who really know Lucas it should be easy.  I have finished, I have survived the tangled mess of medal donning and food serving.  I am too nauseous to eat anything just yet but I did think every drink under the tent looked good, including the beer.  Yes, they had big tubs of beer for the athletes when we crossed the finish line.  I grabbed a beer and one chocolate milk.  These pictures describe my entire conversation with Lucas.  It went something like this,  "hey mom! I am glad you are done.  What did you get over there?'  "Thanks Lucas!  I heard you yelling for me!"  Lucas: "Is that chocolate milk?'
"Yes, Lucas that is chocolate milk. "  I love the picture of him eying my two drinks here...scratching his chin and wondering how he is going to snag my chocolate milk!  Cracks me up!
"Mom, are you going to drink ALL that chocolate milk?  Did you already start to drink some of it?"
"Mom. MOM!! Are you going to finish ALL of this chocolate milk?  Is there somewhere I can get some chocolate milk?"
"MOM!!!!!  I really, really wished you would have gotten me one of these chocolate milks!!"  Me:  "Lucas, you can have the rest of the milk."  His reply..."I don't want yours you already put your mouth on it and drank some, I want my own!"  It is an immediate and lovely way to snap back to reality.

Cuties holding their Iron Man momentos from the Mont Tremblant build a bear workshop.  This was a sweet outing David took them on so I could shower and change after the race.  #Blessed

Our boys!

Thank you Kelly for taking these awesome photos!

Fall soccer

This was Lucas's first and more than likely last attempt at soccer.  It was a miserable experience for all parties.  The Dinosaur dragons were a mess on all kinds of levels.  I never say things like this and I probably shouldn't include these feelings in print, but I hated it!!!!  It was awful and Lucas could have cared less if he was in the game.  I think we started him too early and it was a nightmare.  And it was complicated (or made more fun) with his BFF on the same team.  These next few pictures will help clarify the season.

These guys crack me up!  You can see Lucas is making his famous "farty" noises.

Holy smokes I think that is Lucas actually kicking the ball!  Good job, little buddy!
What mainly occurred on the field.
Sweet Hunter taking a break.  He is really good at soccer and I don't have as many pictures of him because the games are entertaining to watch.  I didn't have the chance to take many pictures.
Even though Hunter is good at soccer, I'm not sure it will be his sport of choice.

First days 2014/2015 school year

Do you think the pre-K at Sinking Springs is ready for this kind of cuteness?

And do you think Sullins Academy is ready for this handsome first grader?  This was Hunter's first year having to wear the blazer and tie for assembly on Mondays.  He was so happy about the tie.  He is officially a first grader!

Post race, lets relax for a moment

Chloe chats it up with the Royal Canadian mounty.
 World's biggest adirondack!
Climbing wall for the kiddos.  Unfortunately, Lucas was to small to attempt this climb so I think he had an extra turn on the jumpers.  You could tell Chloe's gymnastics skills paid off and the fact that she is pretty athletic...I wonder who she gets that from?  She scurried right up to the top and rang the bell.  Hunter did a great job climbing but was nervous about the height.  He made it about half way to the top before he decided he should come down.
 Look at her go!
Ding, ding, she did it and is repelling like a rock star to the bottom.
Food all around please!  My stomach had finally settled from a long day of nerves and racing and I was hungry and ready to eat!
Swimming in the heated pool is always fun.  I don't care how old you are or how cold it is outside.
The hot tub is even better!

Funny faces from daddy and his mini me on the chair lift up to ride the luge!
Down the Luge!!  So much fun!!
I loved it!  David took the kids while I was race prepping one day.  I was afraid to go pre race in case I injured myself.  I was great and i am so glad I had the opportunity to go!
Hunter zipping down the trail!  Even though I just raced for almost 5 hours and had about 30 minutes of sleep the night before I was pumped and ready to be mom again.  Apart from the 70.3 distance taking a long time I love that I am able to cross the line, drop my athlete/competition face and become mom again without too much difficulty.  I am tired for sure, but it is a good kind of tired.  Thankfully, I am not that sore and can resume all my regular mom activities.  I am blessed!
 Let's go home!
Good bye Canada and hello to the US of A!

 Cuteness on the jumpers!
It was amazing to see how high they could go.  I would have been scared to death.

Chloe was eventually able to flip!  Fun times!

Race Day! Let's go!

This post is not in any kind of order.   They have professional sport photographers along the course snapping pictures of everyone.  It is nice to have some good pictures of yourself during the race.  There is not way family could get out on the course and find you!

These first few running shots were taken out of T2.  I remember the day had warmed up nicely and it was actually getting a little hot.  My hands were sticky from the Huma gels I had on the bike and I was thinking about using some water at one of the stops to wash them off.  I think I managed to get them less sticky and less irritating to me after passing through water stop number one which was up the first of many rolling hills.  I felt really good off the bike the last 5 miles of the ride were really hilly and in some sections folks were dropping their chains and crashing right in front of you.  I tried to let people have plenty of room through this last difficult section.

I could tell from these pictures that I was nearing the finish.  Most of the ride was out on the highway.  There were small mountains and some evergreen trees but there wasn't much to look at.  On the way back into Mont Tremblant we did go through the streets of a little town.  It was a crazy annoying 4 mile out and back but it was a great place for spectators and it felt good to see the streets lined with cheering crowds.
The homestretch.  It was hard to breathe as the emotions got the best of me.  I had waited my entire athletic life to run on that carpet and under that blue finish line balloon.  I did it, I was almost there and it was a wonderful, wonderful feeling.
                                                                          Happy!

If I ever do this again I will take a minute and pause under the finish line.  There were lots of people finishing at the same time so I wanted to get out of the way.  Next time, I will relish this moment just a second longer and do something cool across the line, like maybe a cartwheel!  A personal record for me.  I had no regrets!

Mom and dad snapped this pic from up on one of the pedestrian bridges.  This was a  dangerous curve and I think there were a couple of wipe outs.
Just finishing up loop number one of the run.  Loops are both good and bad.  It's nice to know what you are getting into the second time around but.....you come within feet of the finish line and still know you have half of the race to finish!
The best cheering squad a girl could have.  I will admit, I was hurting and not much into the smiling and waving but I tried!  Coming up the cobblestone streets in the resort was brutal.
Lets go jump in a lake!
Scared to death.

Coffee, bagel and hugs from daddy are all you need to set the race off right.

And of course my ever supporting husband.

The start was AMAZING!!  Fog was lifting off the water, athletes were everywhere.  Some were running, some were swimming and most (like myself) were just taking it all in.  The Canadian military played the national anthem, someone said a prayer and for the professional start their were fireworks and fighter jets that swooped by.  I am getting goosebumps just thinking about that morning.
I had plenty of time to start.  I think I was the third to last wave in the water.  There were nearly 1800 people in the water ahead of me.
My wave of blue caps waiting for our single to start.  Each wave start was signaled by fireworks.  So, so cool.

It was a beach start.  The first time I had to do this kind of start.  I practiced in the water a few days before and it seemed fun and easy enough.  I didn't think about there being so many people in the water I wouldn't have a place to swim and jump in.  I literally ran in and took a flying leap over people with my eyes closed.  I hate the first 400 yards of the open swim.  It is a dangerous fish fight.  I had anticipated finding some clean water after the start but in this race we are all GOOD.  Everyone is about the same so there wasn't the spreading out that I was used to in the past races.  We started together and we all stayed together.  This was a RACE.
I'm out there somewhere in crystal clear Canadian water.  I was scared.  I was happy to finally start.  I was proud of how far I had come. I am now a World Champion finisher.
